by 和楽器バンド [Wagakki Band] | on 八奏絵巻 [yasou emaki]
Translation by Aka

.
asayake no kiri ni nijimu
sasayaku kanata no koe
yume ga same tooku michiru
toki no otozure
.
Blurring in the misty morning glow
The distant murmuring voices
Waking from a dream, rising far away
The time comes
.
.
te ni ochita tsuyu ni utsuru
sonata no omokage
matedo izuko utsutsu ni
kokoro no oku de samayou
.
Reflected in the dew that falls on my hand
was that face
Though I waited for whatever reality,
it loiters deep in my heart
.
.
hakanaku yureru
nadeshiko zakura
ransei de umareta hana yo
akaku somerare
ima, yomigaeru
ano hi no nihohi +1
yoru ni hiraku hanabira
.
The fleeting, trembling
pink sakura
Flowers born in troubled times
Dyed in red
Now they come back to life
The smell of that day
The petals that open in the night
.
.
oto mo naku tsuzuku michi wo
mamoru beki mono no tame
hitotoki no yami wo terasu
tsukikage boushi
.
The silent continuing road
For the sake of those I should protect
Momentarily lighting the dark
The cover of moonlight
.
.
fukaki fuchi ni kasumeru
sonata no yubikiri
shinobi yadoru kizuna to
kokoro wo tate ni tsuranuke
.
Growing hazy in the deep abyss
That pinky promise
A connection that stealthily remains
and pierces the shield in my heart
.
.
adeyaka ni mau
nadeshiko zakura
ransei de kuchiteku hana yo
kaze ni tawamure
ima, shidareyuku
kasuka na nihohi +1
iro wa utsuri ni keri na
.
The glamorously fluttering
pink sakura
Flowers that rot in troubled times
Flirting in the wind
And now, weeping down
A faint smell
The color has faded +2
.
.
ima hitotsu mata hitotsu koboreyuku
hana umi ni uzumorete
(tooi) ni megurimeguru yumemi kusa +3
.
Now one, then another, they spill out
I’m buried in a sea of flowers
I become the grass forever going around in a dream
.

Dyed in red
Now it comes back to life
The smell of that day

.
忘れることなかれ wasureru koto nakare I must not forget

+1: ‘nihohi’ is an archaic way of saying ‘nioi’ (smell)
+2: This line (and others I suspect) is taken from an old Japanese poem used in the game, karuta (http://www.ogurasansou.co.jp/site/hyakunin/009.html)
+3: The word “eien” is wriiten but I think Yuuko sings “tooi”. The meaning remains the same; it’s just poetic
+4: To improve this pages’ visibility I’ll say “Nadeshiko Sakura” and “Nadesico Sakura” here. However, as it is sung in the song, it should be read “Nadeshiko Zakura”.
